weaver's religion   Religion has a prominent place in the lives of Bengali weavers. Image of godess Durga diplayed prominently at the entrance of each house in the village, and daily work begins with a prayer.

Pit Looms
The weaver sits on the cushions on the floor and puts his/her feet into a pit which houses the loom paddles

Sleying the reed in Workshop-2

This process is performed by 2 people. Reed is suspended from the ceiling in the varanda, this provides better lighting for sleying the reed with very fine thread.
